Quartu, cyclist overwhelmed and killed by a pirated car: it's a manhunt

Shocking tragedy tonight in viale Marconi in Quartu , near the Le Vele shopping centre: a cyclist was run over and killed by a pirated car .

The driver did not stop to assist and drove off .

It happened at 2: the alarm was raised by a 21-year-old girl who, passing by, saw the bike lying on the side of the road. Carabinieri from the local station and mobile radio unit of Quartu and a 118 ambulance were on the scene.

Unfortunately the rescuers could do nothing, the cyclist was already dead. The victim is a 60-year-old man born in San Gavino, his name is Giuseppe Incani . After being run over by the vehicle, he ended up in the reeds beyond the guard rail.

The manhunt began immediately and continues unabated : the investigations are coordinated by Captains Michele Cerri and Gianni Russo and by Lieutenant Ignazio Cabras.

The area is not under video surveillance, but the bodywork fragments allowed the military to identify the make, model and year of construction of the car. Once the driver has been identified, he will be charged with vehicular homicide and hit and miss .
