Fear struck yesterday on Via delle Orchidee, in the Santu Lianu area of Quartu Sant'Elena, where a large granite boulder, weighing approximately 3.5 tons, broke away from the hill above and landed in the driveway of a private home. Firefighters responded to the scene and secured the area and the home where a married couple in their eighties live. Fortunately, they were unharmed. According to initial reports, the boulder's detachment was caused by the severe weather that has been affecting the Cagliari area for days.

The firefighters operated with the support of a crane, essential for the delicate removal operations. The boulder was in danger of falling toward the property's perimeter wall and onto the public road that connects several neighboring towns and the Niu Crobu neighborhood.

The granite block was slung and moved to a flat area in the area. The work was completed without further problems.
