A new strategy to counter the phenomenon of tax evasion in the city, with 40 percent of Quartesi who in fact do not regularly pay taxes to the Municipality. Tari first of all, with over 3 thousand citizens who in 2022 did not pay even one installment of the waste tax.

But also a way to reward those who - as good citizens - have always paid taxes. «We have recovered a lot on tax evasion», underlines the mayor Graziano Milia, «we have only managed to reach 40 per cent, an improved figure compared to when we arrived. But that's not enough, the goal is to arrive at an evasion that does not exceed 20 percent by 2025, a percentage».

A 20%, specifies the mayor, "which must also include those families who objectively are unable to pay and who we help through the social services".

To achieve this goal, the Municipality is currently defining the strategy. "To encourage the recovery of tax evasion we want to implement measures, using from 300 to 500 thousand euros a year, to reward those who pay taxes regularly", announces the mayor. «In fact, the principle that we will affirm for the future is that there will be a reward: whoever pays taxes within the established deadlines will pay less. Which will not happen to those who can pay but have the custom of not paying taxes, we will be inflexible on those. Maximum support instead for citizens in difficulty, who we will continue to help ".
