"The Meloni government should know that we will firmly defend the beauty and identity of our territory in the face of the reckless decision to develop wind farms off the coast of the Riviera del Corallo," said regional councilor Valdo Di Nolfo . In recent days , the Alghero Coast Guard's publication of a traffic ban until October 30th in a portion of the body of water off Capo Caccia has drawn attention to the hydrogeological investigations: "Once again, the Ministry is failing to involve local authorities and is acting completely independently, disregarding the territory, the Sardinian people, and their parliament," Di Nolfo emphasized. "But the Sardinia Region and the Municipality of Alghero are certainly not willing to be walked all over."

"Our Region is monitoring every procedure with the utmost care and will not allow anything to pass that compromises our landscape and our sea," Di Nolfo continues. "Even in the extreme case that the Government or Ministry were to issue a permit, the Region of Sardinia will challenge such a decision in all competent jurisdictions because it is important to clarify from the outset that under the regional law, no facility can ever be authorized in that area." The affected area falls within the marine protected zone and is therefore subject to insurmountable constraints. Regional Law 20/2024 also prohibits the installation of wind turbines within twelve miles, or approximately 22 kilometers, from the coast. Furthermore, as part of its maritime spatial planning, the Region has already imposed the condition that any facilities be located at least twenty-four miles, or approximately 45 kilometers, away, so as not to be visible from the coastline or from panoramic viewpoints.

"The investigations launched in recent days off the coast of Alghero must not mislead the public: we are not dealing with an imminent wind turbine project, but rather preliminary investigations that the law does not allow us to prohibit. The battle against the ministry begins now."
