Protest in the cemetery of Sassari. Marcello Loi, 62, in addition to the flowers, has posted a sign on the barrier that prevents him from approaching his grandmother's niche, one of about 200 in the "Loculario Perrino", in the monumental area, which has been banned for 40 years . "Unfortunately - he writes addressing the deceased relative - this is the only possible way to lay flowers for you". Because the building has been dilapidated and banned since at least the 1970s and no one has intervened in the meantime: "This is a shameful situation of degradation and abandonment".

Meanwhile the vegetation, in particular the parietaria, proliferates in the middle of the niches, hiding in several cases the inscriptions of the deceased. «Excuse me, Grandma Grazietta - continues Marcello - as soon as possible I'll have your tombstone cleaned, correct the order of your surname and have the photo frame replaced».

But the intervention depends on bodies that have done nothing in recent decades. «I contacted various offices and also the Superintendency. They replied that they would solicit the works». A financial articulation regarding the previous council of 310 thousand euros dates back to the three-year period 2017-19 which the Region, reports the Municipality, has never disbursed. On the other hand, it has allocated 80 thousand euros for the maintenance of cemetery buildings, including the "Perrino" one, even if given the onerousness there will also be a participation of the concessionary company. So Marcello Loi's appeal, also addressed to the families of those resting in the other niches, could finally have an answer. However, the times are unknown and the locularium continues to remain inaccessible today as it was decades ago.
