120 million euros to upgrade Sardinia's public housing. The RinnovArea framework agreement was presented in Sassari, at the Area headquarters in via Cervi, by the regional councilor for Public Works Antonio Piu and, among others, by Area's sole director Matteo Sestu.
"This is a first intervention - explains the first - for public housing by the Region that has already allocated 300 million euros. In this way we will be able to restore dignity to those who live in these apartments and create an induced effect for the construction companies in the area".
Piu, who recalls having lived in a council house for 23 years, underlines the importance of a redevelopment that had been missing on the island for too long. "Objective criteria were used for the distribution of resources on part of the 27 thousand Erp housing units". For example, in Cagliari, and its 7002 houses, 35 million and 150 thousand euros were assigned, in Sassari 32 million and 900 thousand euros with 6553 housing units, in Carbonia-Iglesias with 4327 houses 21 million and 700 thousand euros. The other areas included in the project are those of Nuoro and Oristano. "We did a study - Sestu reports - to identify the emergencies and the 9 performance lots. My job will be to make sure that the resources are spent on time and I will tour the territories to make sure that it is done in the right way". The European open tender, for the three-year period 2025-27, has a deadline for the submission of offers of 28 January 2025.
