An inmate on permit of honor attempted to re-enter Uta prison with ten wrappers containing heroin, cocaine, marijuana and as many as 95 grams of hashish , as well as a cell phone .

The discovery - reported by the Sappe Penitentiary Police Autonomous Syndicate - was carried out by the Penitentiary Police , which proceeded to arrest the man, just on the eve of the visit of the Minister of Justice Marta Cartabia .

In the same hours, the officers recovered two wrappings from the prison perimeter that contained 150 grams of marijuana and several grams of cocaine .

"Despite the serious shortage of staff at the Uta Prison, the staff of the Penitentiary Police continue with great investigative professionalism to prevent the introduction of drugs and telephones", said the regional secretary of Sappe, Luca Fais .

According to the general secretary of Sappe Donato Capece , "drastic solutions must be adopted, such as shielding the detention sections and the spaces in which inmates are present for the use of cell phones and smartphones".

"It is urgent and can no longer be deferred to find solutions to the staff of the Penitentiary Police who work, understaffed and with great difficulty, in the Uta prison and in the other Sardinian prisons", concludes the union.
