Moments of fear erupted on Via Azuni, just steps from the center of Porto Torres, where flames engulfed a huge warehouse owned by the Italian State Railways. The fire inside the building broke out around 6:00 p.m., fanned by strong winds, and is currently being fought by local firefighters. The Avis headquarters has been evacuated, with emergency vehicles moved and secured.

Two fire engines from the Red Helmets arrived on the scene to determine whether the fire was caused by arson, one of the hypotheses being examined by the Carabinieri of the Porto Torres company who arrived on the scene.

The operations to extinguish the flames, which destroyed the internal material, continued for a long time.

The property had been secured and remediated in recent months following the collapse of its cornices. The area acquired by the Municipality, along with other buildings, will be cleared of adjacent buildings.
