Pratobello 24 does not stop: «Ready for new demonstrations»

The next day is a new beginning. After all, from the stage under the windows of the Regional Council, the People of Pratobello reiterated it loud and clear: « If the will of the Sardinians expressed with the over 210 thousand signatures on the proposed law of popular initiative is not taken into account, we will know how to make ourselves heard ». With this, no one, the day before yesterday in Via Roma, had the intention of ruining a celebration that brought together a large part of the Sardinians. To use the words of Luigi Pisci, of the Sarcidano committee, the soul of the coordination for Pratobello 24, « the collection has brought together a cross-party consensus that not even the two major parties together received in the last regional elections ».
But now the Popolo della Pratobello does not exclude anything. Not even, therefore, the intensification of the mobilization: «New demonstrations? We do not exclude it: the will of the Sardinians is not negotiable ».
Yesterday, Governor Alessandra Todde was clear: politics can also take note of a will, but legislators are such by popular mandate. In short, to each his own task. But the lawyer Michele Zuddas, militant under the banner of Pratobello 24 from the very beginning, objects: « A law of popular initiative is not the result of a simple concern», he says. «It is the exercise of the right to self-determination through an instrument of participatory democracy . The president has the duty, institutional on the one hand and political on the other, to give a quick response to the over 210 thousand signatories of a law ready for the vote in the Regional Council. I expect and we expect that the process of Pratobello 24 will be at least as quick as that of the bill approved by the Council in less than 30 days. Ours is not a concern but a claim, based on an unprecedented popular legitimacy in fact superior to the electorate of any majority or opposition party. Institutions fulfill their duty when they act promptly and without hesitation on the legitimately expressed will of the people."
