Potholes, rickety barriers, and darkened streets: Olbia residents protest

Unsafe barriers, sinking asphalt, and no street lighting: this is the situation reported by residents of Via Talete and Via Leonardo da Vinci, in the central Ospedale Vecchio neighborhood. These streets are populated and frequented daily by families and children, partly due to the presence of municipal and private nursery schools.
According to local residents, the problems are primarily related to the deteriorated and rapidly sinking road surface, which began about a year ago. This was compounded by the work begun, but still unfinished, to remove the utility poles. "We've reported the situation several times," some residents say, "but so far nothing concrete has been done. As for the asphalt subsidence, the potholes continue to widen and fill with all sorts of waste. A barrier has been up for a year, but no effective action has been taken. Enel's work, which was supposed to be completed in a few days, has instead been stalled for a month, and during that time, everything happened: cables and pipes were severed, leaving us without fiber optics and water. Street lighting on Via Talete is still missing."
Many children, especially in the afternoon, play along the road or on the sidewalks, increasing residents' fears of potential accidents. "We are calling for urgent intervention from those responsible for securing the road to complete the pending work and restore the road surface," the residents conclude, "before the situation becomes more serious."
