In a letter to the prefect and the police commissioner of Nuoro, the secretariats of the Sinafi (Financial Police) and Anip Italia Sicura (Police) unions denounced "a situation that has now assumed a particularly serious and urgent nature," affecting the staff employed at the Macomer repatriation detention center.

The critical issues concern, on the one hand, the logistical, sanitary, and functional conditions of the contracted accommodation facilities intended for staff housing, and, on the other, the structural and organizational issues affecting the Center itself, with inevitable repercussions on working conditions, staff safety, and the efficiency of the service provided. According to the unions, these are all issues that have already been raised, but have never been addressed .

"Police and armed forces personnel employed in highly sensitive public order services, often characterized by high operational risk," workers' representatives denounce, " cannot be forced to remain in facilities that do not guarantee adequate standards of liveability, safety, hygiene, and decorum , nor can they operate in an organizational context that presents persistent critical issues without adopting appropriate corrective measures."

The unions are calling for a discussion to find immediate, concrete, and verifiable solutions, as well as a joint inspection of the accommodation facilities. Otherwise, they threaten "any further action permitted by law to protect the health, safety, professional dignity, and rights of the staff they represent."
