The governor Christian Solinas replies to Gianmarco Zucca , a temporary worker of Portovesme who will stay at home from April 1st and who from the web pages of UnioneSarda.it had made an appeal "in tears" precisely to the president of the regional council ( HERE THE FULL TEXT ) asking help, for himself and for all workers at risk in the event of a lockout at the Sulcis plant.
Here is Solinas' answer:
"Dear Gianmarco;
I would like to express my closeness to you and to all your colleagues at Portovesme srl, internal or temporary, who are experiencing days of anguish for their future and that of their families, as well as those workers forced, I repeat forced, to fight that I never wanted to see again in our land.
Anxiety that I share with profound and sincere human and institutional closeness, which strikes me not only for the consequences that weigh on you and your families, but also for the future of an industrial center that has all the credentials to guarantee a future for who works there and who invests in a legitimate entrepreneurial perspective.
Here, however, I fear I glimpse the most disturbing, inhumane aspect of the large multinational corporation. For months the Region, together with the Government, has been committed to favoring the conditions to avoid plant shutdowns. For months, we were told that the problem to solve was the price of energy. I repeat to you what I have already said: I believe that those conditions have been met today. But even that doesn't seem enough. Once a goal has been reached, another is indicated to us, always vague, always uncertain, always not definitive and decisive.
Dear Gianmarco, the Region is by your side, the President is with you and will continue to commit himself on all fronts to guarantee protection and stability for workers and a future of work and production for an industrial pole which is strategic for Sardinia and for the 'Italy. We will not leave you alone."
