«The municipal administration is doing everything in its power to be able to immediately reopen via Ponte Romano , in this match which concerns multiple institutional subjects».

The mayor of Porto Torres, Massimo Mulas , reassures residents on the reopening of one of the main roads of the urban centre , a fundamental artery for traffic entering and leaving the city.

The road has been closed for three years now, following an important archaeological discovery, with consequent inconvenience to the inhabitants and traffic.

The administration awaits the response from the Superintendency of Cultural Heritage which had hypothesized opening part of the road to allow cars to pass in one direction only and, therefore, pedestrianizing the part where the site stands which in 2020 had brought out a polychrome mosaic and wall structures probably belonging to a Roman villa.

Now the construction site appears abandoned, with the safety fences torn down and compromised in their static nature, and as such also dangerous for simple pedestrian traffic.

The indicative signs have been vandalised, just as the excavation area appears to be in a state of neglect.
