Inspection by the Carabinieri of the provincial command of Sassari in the depot of garbage vehicles, in the industrial area of Porto Torres, in the aftermath of the fire that reduced 11 compactors of Sangalli Giancarlo & C. srl, the company that manages the urban hygiene contract.

The images from the cameras installed in the area which hosts around thirty vehicles are being examined. Mayor Massimo Mulas expresses his full solidarity with the company for the serious damage suffered.

The firefighters of the local detachment intervened at 9.30 pm when the fire alarm went off. While waiting for greater clarity on the origins of the fire, the mayor expressed closeness to the managers and employees of the company who are trying, with difficulty, to carry out their service as best as possible and trusts in the work of the police because the nature of the episode can be understood as soon as possible. No hypothesis is excluded, not even accidental, due to spontaneous combustion.

The mayor hopes that the cause that triggered the fire can be ascertained as soon as possible and underlines that " the city of Porto Torres will, without a doubt, be able to show solidarity, given the great level of civilization that distinguishes it, although some want make the opposite appear ." In the meantime, due to the fire, some disruptions and inconveniences are expected, with possible changes in separate waste collection . «We hope – the Municipality says – to be able to trust in the understanding and solidarity of all citizens».
