Balconies propped up by metal scaffolding , at risk of structural failure. 23 public residential buildings in via Falcone and Borsellino which present the most critical issues in Porto Torres . The problems of the remaining 26 apartments of the buildings with sustainable rent are no less. This is the sensational case of a story that started badly in 2019 , when the houses built with "eco-sustainable" material were handed over to the beneficiaries who, in reality, only benefited from problems.
A succession of risky situations including water infiltration , non-functioning air conditioners and unsafe roofing that led to the issuing of an order by Mayor Massimo Mulas which declared 23 external verandas of the 49 social housing unusable . Currently 23 terraces have been temporarily reinforced by scaffolding to prevent them from collapsing onto as many ground floor apartments. In the newly built houses, announced as avant-garde homes, railings collapsed, but also attics, pieces of plaster and, in correspondence with the supports of the attics of the verandas, in the outermost part of the building, the one most exposed to water infiltration and all 'humidity, the major criticalities were found on the wood, which was completely compromised.
«A nightmare lived for four years without a solution, problems already announced by the previous administration and never resolved – explains Fortunato Occulto , one of the residents of via Falcone e Borsellino – a shame that could have been prevented. We live worse than the homeless, with an unsafe house where we fear it will collapse at any moment and risk being evicted. Under these conditions we refuse to pay the fee. The buildings affected by the collapses are at the center of a dispute. The current majority intends to verify the causes of all construction defects and crystallize the situation, in order to avoid incurring forfeiture for reporting serious defects in the construction of the buildings against the construction company.
