New tender for the award of the contract for the consolidation and restoration of the ancient Roman bridge, the monument with seven arches built in the imperial age in Porto Torres, considered among the most important in Sardinia due to its excellent state of conservation.

The executive project financed by the Regional Secretariat of the Ministry of Culture for Sardinia, is divided into two lots, comprising a first intervention equal to 3 million and 350 thousand euros and a second of 700 thousand euros. Both lots will be awarded to a single operator. The works involve the consolidation of the foundation structures of the west abutment and of the sixth pier by inserting valved micropiles in stainless steel built starting from the road surface.

Reinforcement of the underlying soil by injecting lime-based mortars is also planned. The six columns and the two abutments will be filled with filling material by injecting mixtures based on natural lime.

Furthermore, we will proceed with the insertion of transversal ties to the full width of the bridge in all seven arches with stitching with stainless steel helical bars in the split sections replacing the degraded ones. Also planned is the construction of the raised walkway in galvanized and painted steel along the entire development of the bridge, equipped with signal lighting.

The restoration involves the stone facing, sides, arches, piles and abutments of the bridge. Finally, the conservative restoration of the paving is planned, with the arrangement of the access areas to the bridge on the two banks, with the reconstruction of the pavement, the insertion of bollards for vehicles and stairways to connect the differences in level.

The object of the public notice is the tender for the execution and completion of all the works envisaged in the executive project which has identified the archaeologist Patrizia Tomassetti as responsible for the procedure.
