The users who failed to report or pay the tax due on waste (Tari) were completely unknown to the tax office of the Municipality of Porto Torres. They have evaded about 1.5 million euros which, added to interest and penalties, make it possible to reach the total amount of 2 million and 529 thousand euros for partial or total payment of the tax.

A game finished here thanks to the control activity of the Municipality which has identified the "crafty ones" through a series of cross-referencing of their data with those made available by the Revenue Agency and other Bodies. A capillary work that has reviewed the five-year period 2016-2020. To recover the uncollected sums, the Tax Office issued 2,112 notices of assessment for over two and a half million for failure to pay in the period 2019-2020, reminder notifications also for non-tax returns against 52 users for a total of 51 thousand and 876 euros for the years 2016-2020.

The administration has highlighted the data in compliance with the new municipal regulation on the discipline of the Tari approved by the council on March 26, 2021.
