The municipal council of Porto Torres has approved the merger between Multiss Spa (multiutility of the Province of Sassari) and Multiservizi (in house company of the Municipality).

The deed implements the plan to rationalize shareholdings approved by the Porto Torres city council last year.

The objective of the merger is to obtain management efficiency, improve and expand the services offered, increase the spending review and optimize forms of management of public services. The reports accompanying the file show how the operation will also have important repercussions from the point of view of income for both companies. The same services carried out within a more structured and broader organization such as that of Multiss Spa, considering the numerous contracts and the conspicuous turnover, will favor the creation of economies of scale, making the same services cheaper. The advantages for Multiss are then represented by the expansion of the range of the volume of services and contextually of the turnover. The project will also be able to promote company growth with the possibility of managing additional services complementary to the current ones. For all these reasons, the merger will also have an effect on the quality of service itself. As happened in the previous sessions in which the topic was discussed, it was specified that in the transition from Multiservices to Multiss all the forms will be implemented to protect and enhance the personnel of the Municipality's in-house company. Following this merger, the Municipality of Porto Torres will hold approximately 5 percent of the shares of Multiss. "This merger was intended to improve the quality of services to citizens," says Alessandro Carta, councilor for the investee companies. «As an in-house company, Multiservizi had structural limits that can be overcome thanks to this merger with Multiss, a company that has demonstrated by numbers that it is at the forefront in the provision of fundamental services for the community. The effects of this merger will be an increase in the quality of green maintenance and care services in Porto Torres and the addition of interventions that previously could not be programmed with our own strength".
