He had explosives at his home in Porto Torres , and from there he sent threatening and anti-Semitic messages to various Jewish communities.

The man, of Russian nationality, was stopped at Alghero airport as he was about to board a flight to Barcelona. The charges are the manufacture and possession of explosives, propaganda and incitement to commit crimes on the grounds of racial, ethnic and religious discrimination.

The investigations, conducted by the DIGOS of the Sassari Police Headquarters in close collaboration with the Service for the Contrast of Extremism and Internal Terrorism of the Central Directorate of Prevention Police / UCIGOS, made it possible to locate it in Porto Torres from   by some violent messages that he sent to the Jewish communities of Milan, Naples, Turin, Genoa, Ancona, Merano, Livorno, Ferrara, Casale Monferrato and Modena-Reggio Emilia.

After putting him under constant monitoring, the investigators finally decided to search his house: smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other IT media such as hard-disks and pen-drives were seized here, as well as various printed materials, including diaries, block notes, notebooks and various papers.

Not only that: there were also some plastic food bags which, however, contained «black powdery substance , and other substances which, in the first instance, were already considered to be precursors of explosives; substances, that is, which combined with each other could be used for the illegal manufacture of explosive substances ».

The bomb squad of the General Prevention and Public Aid Office of the Cagliari Police Headquarters " ascertained the high offensive potential of the seized material which, due to its deadly nature, was suitable for causing an explosion with a significant destructive effect".

Hence the decision to stop. "The investigative activities will continue, however, to clearly ascertain what the real intentions of the Russian were, as well as to evaluate the involvement of other subjects in the criminal activity".
