A fishing boat sank this afternoon off the Gulf of Asinara, north of the island, not far from the coast of Porto Torres. Three people aboard the vessel, which was sailing from Santa Teresa di Gallura, were rescued by another fishing boat sailing nearby.

All persons on board are reportedly in good health. The cause of the vessel's sinking in a matter of minutes is still under investigation. The Coast Guard responded to the scene with a patrol boat dispatched following a report from the Port Authority of Turritana.

They transferred the people from the fishing vessel to the rescue unit. An ambulance arrived at the dock at the Turritano port to check on the crew members. The Port Authority has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident and any liability.
