Porto Torres, Fidapa awards Antonia Orlando, the “gentle revolutionary”

These are the emotional words of Antonia Orlando, a 90-year-old former teacher and member of Fidapa, Porto Torres section, the same association that wanted to award her an award.
Defined as a "gentle revolutionary" for her determination and moral honesty, Antonia Orlando was the protagonist of the event that was celebrated yesterday evening, in the hall of the Palazzo del Marchese , for an award that has reached its third edition and was established by Fidapa - Porto Torres section, with the patronage of the Municipality, with the aim of celebrating and paying homage to a woman from Porto Torres, by birth or adoption, who has distinguished herself in the fields of the arts, professions and business, but also in the social, associative and sporting fields .
The evening was introduced by the president of Fidapa of Porto Torres Maria Tindara Abramo, followed by greetings from the past president of the Sardinia District Maria Lucia Fancellu, on behalf of the current president Gianna Ledda.
Outlining the high profile of Antonia Orlando is her former student Patrizia Foddai, one of the founding members of the Turritana section of Fidapa: «She was the first district president of Fidapa, and as a teacher she positively influenced our lives, and I am one of those students raised in the scientific high school by Antonia, an example to follow and respect».
The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Simona Fois and the Fidapina of the Cagliari section Liana Bilardi. Also participating were Lieutenant of the Carabinieri Giuseppe De Negri. The event was enlivened by musicians Vincenzo Mozzillo and Cristian Ruzzeddu of the Duo Ethos who curated the musical interludes. The annual event saw two women from Turrita awarded in 2023 and 2022, former Mayor Gilda Usai Cermelli and Pina Mancheddu, founder of an association for the fight against drug addiction.
