The case of the former ironworks ends up in court .

The owners of the abandoned iron rod factory , located in the industrial area of Porto Torres and affected by the collapse of the asbestos roof, challenged the order of Mayor Massimo Mulas by appealing to the Regional Administrative Court because it was deemed inadmissible . The provision issued by the mayor ordered Laterizi Torres srl to provide for the removal and disposal of all waste containing asbestos still present on the public road, and of that deposited in an uncontrolled manner on the land pertaining to the plant.

According to the company, the ordinance would be illegitimate , and as such they require the annulment of the deed, subject to suspension, as the same company would not be the addressee of the provision because it is subject to bankruptcy proceedings .

The owners also believe that the mayor would not be competent to issue such an ordinance, because the industrial complex would fall within the site of national interest , therefore subject to the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Environment and the Province of Sassari .

Therefore the Municipality has mandated the lawyer Fabrizo Bionda to represent and defend the Body, which once again will have to face a lawsuit to obtain the reclamation of a polluted area . Therefore, the problem of identifying a responsible party remains. Following the collapse of the asbestos fiber cement sheets, no action was taken to secure the roof and any other unsafe part of the complex, in order to protect public safety and urban security .
