The former Porto Torres Fish Market is ready to be transformed into a Service Center for the port. The company Sirimed, a consortium member of the Bologna-based Acreide group, will take care of the completion and conversion of the structure.
Yesterday the awarding decree was signed to the company which offered a 12 percent discount on the amount of the tender base of around 2 million and 732 thousand euros. The building will be divided into four areas: offices of the Port System Authority, a conference room with around 170 seats which will keep the terraced steps with their typical fan shape and a service center for the port to be used as offices for the port cluster. Finally, the northern part of the structure could be destined, in the future, to a fish market, with the provision of a large central hall, service area for cold rooms, a kitchen, warehouses, offices, toilets and technical rooms.
The external area, of approximately 6,000 square meters, will be equipped with driveways with parking spaces and a green area with native essences. The works will start in February and will be completed by 2023.
«The outcome of the tender that has just been awarded adds a full page of commitments to the 2023 work agenda for the Porto Torres port of call – says Massimo Deiana, president of the AdSP of the Sardinian Sea -. Once the law checks have been concluded and, in any case, within the first months of the year, the awarded company will be able to start the construction site to build what will be the port cluster's home".
