The city of Porto Torres is preparing to celebrate the Day of National Unity and the Armed Forces on November 4th.

The municipal administration of Turritana, as per tradition, will honor the memory of all the fallen of the Great War with a solemn celebration to which the entire population is invited to participate. The ceremony will begin at 9:15 in Piazza Umberto I° with the gathering of military, civil and religious authorities and representatives of the Veterans' Associations in front of the monument to the fallen.

The participants will then move to the church of the Beata Vergine della Consolata, where Monsignor Salvatore Masia will officiate the holy mass. At the end of the service, at 10:30 in front of the Town Hall, the traditional civil rite will take place with the placing of laurel wreaths at the foot of the monuments to the Fallen of the First World War and to the Fallen of the Sea. After a minute of silence, the Prayer of the Fighter and the Motivation for the Gold Medal for military valor of the Unknown Soldier will be read.

The ceremony will end with the speech of the mayor Massimo Mulas. Finally, the procession will head to the cemetery of via Balai where laurel wreaths will be laid on the graves of the carabiniere Walter Frau and the financier Salvatore Cabitta. On this day, we intend to remember, in a special way, all those who, even very young, have sacrificed their lives for an ideal of homeland and attachment to duty: values that have remained unchanged over time, for the military of the past and those of today.
