As part of a fleet renewal program, Rimorchiatori Sardi , a company that recently became part of the Medtug group (MSC – Boluda), is preparing to decommission the tugboat named after Vincenzo Onorato , owner of the Moby Group which until a few months ago controlled the company concessionary for ferry towing services in Sardinian ports.

The Vincenzo Onorato, currently in service at the Porto Torres port, was built and launched in 1976 by the then Cantieri Navali Giorgetti of Viareggio. The vessel is equipped with two 1,622 kW Man engines, and is 35 meters long and almost 10 meters wide.

The vessel, considered one of the most cutting-edge, is reportedly being sold. It has already changed its name to Tiger Tug and its flag (St. Kitts & Nevis).

The tugboat had been involved in several emergency situations, taking part in operations to refloat vessels and rescue the crew.
