They carried 25 thousand euros one and 18 thousand euros the other like it was nothing.

The Adm officials of Sassari, on duty at the Territorial Operations Section of Porto Torres , together with the soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza of the Porto Torres Company, stopped the two Spanish passengers arriving from Barcelona, found to be in possession of undeclared cash at customs.

The legislation, the ADM recalls, provides for the free circulation of currency within the EU for amounts up to 10 thousand euros "beyond which the traveler is required to present a currency declaration at customs upon entry or exit from the territory national".

Passengers immediately paid the fine, equal to 15% of the amount exceeding the allowed limit.

The control activity «is part of a broader system of operations conducted by the Adm and the Financial Police and aimed at preventing money laundering and terrorist financing as per EU Directive No. 2015/849».
