About three thousand patients without a general practitioner and six hundred children without a pediatrician . In the municipality of Porto Torres, the welfare deficit affects a large number of citizens, forced to face serious hardships, moving around in the municipality of Sassari in order to guarantee themselves the indispensable treatments.

Endless queues and waits at the Andriolu health center to request the assignment of a general practitioner. And the protests are felt. Some even forced to pay for visits to children .

This morning some preferred to eat their meals in front of the health facility so as not to miss their shift. Between planned resignations and retirements, the city suffers from an acute shortage of professionals.

In scope 1.2 of the Social-Health District of Sassari, which embraces the municipalities of Porto Torres and Stintino, to date there are 13 general practitioners and only one of them has voluntarily joined the temporary increase in the ceilings from 1,500 to 1,800 patients , some have asked for a reduction. Bureaucracy distracts the time available to devote to their clients. The regional councilor for health, Carlo Doria, has promised to meet their needs.

On the pediatric assistance front, from 18 January the pediatrician Paola Murgia will take up her duties in Porto Torres, in via Pacinotti, with the role of owner. It will be necessary to submit a request to the Choices and Revocations office for the assignment of the doctor, as the old attributions will lapse. A single pediatrician will not be sufficient to cover the number of patients.

The Asl of Sassari had banned a temporary assignment notice of pediatrician of free choice, in which it is always possible to participate. On the other hand, the publication of the notice for the assignment of two provisional positions of Primary Assistance for the municipality of Porto Torres dates back to January 3rd. In any case, the notice does not expire: once this deadline has elapsed and no applications have been received, the interested doctors will be able to apply until two provisional appointments have been conferred to the first entitled doctors.
