He pelted the 118 volunteers with insults and threats, who arrived aboard the ambulance to help the patient at his home in Porto Torres. The man had requested the intervention of health workers for dressing a minor hand wound, but what was supposed to be a routine service has turned into a nightmare.

«As soon as we reached the site of the operation, in the city centre, we realized that it was a simple dressing on a finger, so we explained to him that he had to go to his trusted doctor, or to the emergency medical service, because it was not of our task. He reacted by going into a rage».

The man made the intervention of the volunteers excited and impossible, attacked and abused for no reason. “After insulting us, he threatened to attack us, lay his hands on us and shoot us with a gun – says a 118 operator – yet every day we donate our time to help others. We are continually exposed to verbal and physical aggression and to the risk of being beaten for trivial reasons".
