"There's a guy dealing drugs and keeping them in his garage." The report reached the Cagliari Police Headquarters via the Youpol app, available to citizens who want to report suspected crimes, and triggered an operation that led to the arrest of a 25-year-old from Sestu.
Investigators from the Flying Squad's "Falchi" unit set up a surveillance operation to verify the veracity of the information received: the twenty-five-year-old was observed leaving his home and driving away in a car. Stopped nearby for a check, he apparently displayed a nervous state, which prompted officers to conduct further investigations.
The search led to the discovery of an initial quantity of hashish inside the home and a large sum of cash hidden in a dresser in the bedroom.
The investigation was then extended to the garage: although the young man had initially denied having any other premises at his disposal, investigators verified that some of the keys in his possession allowed him to open both the building's gate and the garage. Two blocks of hashish, two precision electronic scales with traces of narcotics, and a knife with a drug-soaked blade were recovered.
The outcome is: At the end of the operations, the State Police seized a total of 178.70 grams of hashish and 8,240 euros in cash.
Having faced a fast-track trial, the twenty-five-year-old was placed under house arrest.
