The Oristano State Police have completed a major operation to combat drug dealing in the Torangius neighborhood, charging three people with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
The operation, conducted by investigators from the Anti-Drug Section of the Flying Squad, with the assistance of the Sardinia Crime Prevention Unit and the State Police canine units, with the dogs "Piton" and "Quantas" from the General Prevention Office, was prompted by numerous reports from residents, who were suspicious of the constant comings and goings of people inside a building in the area. Subsequent monitoring and investigative checks identified an apartment that had apparently been transformed into a hub for the sale of narcotics .
The drug dealing system had caused serious alarm among the residents of the building and neighboring buildings. A constant influx of people and vehicles was observed at all hours of the day and night, with individuals accessing the building using the stairs and elevator, making it difficult to precisely locate the intended apartment from the outside.
During the house search, the officers found and seized approximately one kilogram of marijuana inflorescences, several grams of cocaine, six precision electronic scales , material for packaging doses of the narcotic and other items believed to be attributable to previous illicit supplies.
The results of the investigation confirmed the investigative hypothesis regarding the existence of an organized drug dealing center within the home, with methods that made it more difficult to identify those responsible and the movements of the buyers.
The residents of the apartment were reported for the crime of possession of narcotics with intent to sell.
