Poetto Garbage Dumpster: "I'm ashamed to be Sardinian. And don't say there aren't any trash cans."
A morning litter of rubbish in the Cavalluccio area: Matteo Lecca's tiradePoetto garbage dump. Waste of all kinds was left everywhere this morning in the Cavalluccio area. A sprawl of plates, plastic containers, bottles, cans, and paper litter.
Three days ago, Matteo Lecca, a young social media content producer, was confronted with the evidence of so many incivility. He had gone to the seafront to get some fresh air during a workout. He interrupted his workout and grabbed his smartphone to report and denounce what was happening around him.
"I'm ashamed to be Sardinian when you do this," he begins. The images speak for themselves. But Lecca continues, pointing to the classic excuse—which, in any case, doesn't justify anything—about the lack of waste disposal containers: "The bins? There aren't any bins?" he gets excited. "Here they are," he says. And he points to many of them. Empty. While all around is the garbage dump.
