Harmony on the major issues between the Podemos group and the 5 Stars during the interlocutory meeting aimed at tracing new destinies for Alghero politics in view of the next municipal elections. «In a climate of total serenity, the respective visions of a “beautiful and impossible” city were exchanged which deserves a lot of attention, courtesy, delicacy and determination in addressing the various weaknesses that have been plaguing it for some time, to give it back what it rightfully deserves , its rightful splendor probably obscured by a policy that over the years has been less than attentive in intercepting the warning signals coming from an important segment of the population that no longer recognizes itself in political representation, even if democratically elected", we read in a note sent by the Podemos group, represented by Gianni Cherchi, Mauro Ruiu, Giovanni Roma, Mario Corrias and Gaetano Dedola. "In the two and a half hours of discussion we found ourselves converging on issues of strong impact and relevance which clearly distance themselves from an increasingly self-referential policy, embalmed by the interests of a few", continues the note.

The secretariat of the 5 Star Movement represented by Roberto Ferrara, Graziano Porcu, Maria Antonietta Alivesi, Giusi Di Maio paid particular attention to some key points of its program, such as the defense of the environment and the stop to the overbuilding of the coasts. «In photographing the city, various weaknesses emerged which will have to be filled with concrete, clear and transparent interventions to the public, such as the definitive approval of a PUC which has been fugitive for decades, the absence of which has favored the continuous overlapping of urban planning disharmonies which are difficult to marry with the beauty and uniqueness of the historic centre", they add from the Podemos group according to which the challenge is to return "to that active and healthy policy within which the people of Alghero must regain the joy and pride of belonging to a city where the tourism must be seen as an opportunity for development and employment and not as an accident, an annoying "disharmony" that contrasts peaceful living. We therefore underline the need to recover that part of civil society still willing to commit and bet on new formulas of doing politics in the exclusive general interest of the city and citizens".

In its work agenda, the primary objective will be to give voice to the weakest sections of the population through a policy of integrated services with the many associations operating in the area, paying particular attention to the social role of sport. In widely sharing the theme linked to the "consumption of the territory", Podemos has highlighted, as per its Statute, the maximum opposition and opposition to any intervention that could in the slightest jeopardize the artistic and architectural heritage, the agricultural landscape, the coasts, the symbolic places of Alghero culture. Finally, the effort will be aimed at involving young people for a return to politics and social commitment.
