A new anti-poaching raid has been launched in southern Sardinia. The Forestry Corps has executed a precautionary custody order issued by the Cagliari investigating judge against two residents of Pula and Sarroch, who are now under house arrest with electronic tags.
The two are believed to be part of a criminal organization active in the Gutturu Mannu Regional Park , engaged in illegal hunting and drug dealing along the Sulcis coast. The investigation, coordinated by the Cagliari Prosecutor's Office and conducted by the Pula Forestry Station, had already led to the arrest of six other people in the municipalities of Pula and Sarroch in recent months.
The charges include possession and carrying of illegal weapons used for poaching, as well as violations of drug laws. The judge identified a real risk of repeat offenses and ordered precautionary measures to disrupt the group's activities.
During the operations , another individual resident in Pula was also stopped . Despite being a valid hunting rifle license holder, he had just killed a wild boar during poaching activities.
The man was reported to the Judicial Authorities for hunting during an unauthorized period and for using prohibited ammunition (buckshot).
