Thirty-four kilos of plastic packaging collected per capita in Sardinia. The island is the most virtuous region in Italy in front of Umbria (32 kilos). And it far exceeds the national average of 24.9 kilos.

These are the numbers of the collection of Corepla , the National Consortium for the collection, recycling and recovery of plastic packaging.

The separate collection of plastic packaging continues to grow in 2021: the collection, at national level conferred to the selection centers was 1,475,747 tons, with an increase of 3% compared to 2020. Also this year a new record in terms of quantity treated.

The collection and recycling service is now widespread throughout the country: 7,583 Municipalities served (96%) with the involvement of 98% of citizens.

"The Italians - declares the president of Corepla Giorgio Quagliuolo - are making a considerable effort to sort waste correctly, thanks also to the initiatives implemented by municipalities and companies. The numbers that emerged today attest that the path is the right one; now however, a further effort on the part of everyone is required to maintain the excellence we have achieved in terms of the percentage of separate collection of plastic packaging and recycling. We will continue to make our expertise and experience available to the country to build on today's goals, the ambitious goals of tomorrow ".
