Work continues in Quartu to lay fiber optic cables, adding to Enel's energy efficiency efforts under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). And along with the excavation, the disruption for residents and motorists is increasing. While awaiting repairs, Via Marconi, resurfaced only a few years ago, has been completely destroyed by excavations that cut across almost its entire length.

"We hope they fix the asphalt right away," commented passerby Elena Manca, "because the situation is really critical now. You can't even walk across without falling, and if you're driving, the damage could be extensive. We hope they carry out inspections and that the repairs are done immediately."

Beyond the construction sites of external contractors awaiting repairs, potholes on several roads are also creating problems. Between Via Marconi and Via Brigata Sassari, where a large pothole has existed for months, the situation has become so critical that it's almost impossible to turn off the road. Potholes are also present on the stretch of Via Marconi immediately after the basilica and on other streets in the city center and in the coastal developments. The City has already funded a new batch of asphalt paving, which should begin soon.
