For those who go to Casa Futuro, in Pirri , in via Santa Maria Goretti, the welcome is a beautiful starry sky, painted on the facade. Here live the dreams and hopes of many boys and girls that come true. There are 60 of them, followed by eight educators, on a permanent basis, and many collaborators. It is the headquarters of Codice Segreto, the first entirely private association in Cagliari that accompanies people with disabilities towards autonomy .

And their stories are good to read and listen to. There is Fabrizio Marruncheddu, 47 years old , who is among the first to have arrived here: «I take care of maintenance and animals at the WWF reserve and Domus de Luna l'Oasi del Cervo e Della Luna: they chose me, and it's beautiful. I bought my new shoes with my own money».

Casa Futuro is a place where the kids, a couple of times a week, sleep, learn to take care of everything, to cook, do activities . And it is always full of life. There are Carlotta Sanna, 29, and Gianmario Locci, 27. He is a resource in a large clothing store, where he prepares suits and dresses and puts them on the shelves; and she also knows how to arrange everything in another clothing store. "Here it was a path of growth," she says, " I arrived in 2012, and Fabrizio and I fell in love. What do I like most about him? His stubbornness," she says. "Me? I like everything about her," he replies.

It should be normal, it is still almost exceptional to see boys and girls like them in a shop, in a company : «When I arrived in the shop I said: my goodness, how big it is, but then I got used to it; you must not give up, you just have to put in the good will», Valentina Serra recalls, «I work with Gianmario, I take care of cutting the ornaments that he puts on the various clothes».

The conditions and stories of these kids are different, but there is a future for everyone. The story begins almost 15 years ago. "It was 2010," says Francesca Mulas, one of the founders , "we all got together to have an association to dedicate our free time to. Every morning we did activities with the kids who were following the post-diploma path. We then opened Casa Futuro in 2021, after buying and restoring it." "It was needed for the kids who don't know what to do after finishing school," Valentina immediately comments. The Codice Segreto method? "I won't explain to you how to make malloreddus, we make them together," says Francesca. "Everyone needs to be accompanied to their level of autonomy, and the most important lesson is that we can all keep commitments to ourselves. It's a mistake to think that a person with a disability cannot be a resource for a company." There is a painting that says " Here it is forbidden to say I can't do it ," to underline her words. The dreams for these kids? "I always want to work," says Gianmario. And Valentina: "I'm already happy." Fabrizio and Carlotta say: "A life together." And Francesca adds: "We want to help even more people grow."
