Phone call from fake post office employees: the scam in Villacidro
A couple in the trap of scammers paid over 3 thousand euros
A phone call was the first step to deceive a couple from Villacidro, convinced to make a total payment of 3,499 euros in favor of two scammers.
The victims, on 13 September last, received the call in which a 21-year-old and his mother of 41, both from San Giorgio a Cremano and resident in Naples, pretended to be employees of Poste Italiane who, with great dialectical ability, they are made to top up the large sum with some suggested operations to improve the functionality of the account.
After realizing they had fallen into a trap, husband and wife filed a complaint with the carabinieri. Once the investigations began, the military identified the perpetrators, denouncing them for aggravated fraud.
