The situation at Alghero Airport has returned to normal following this morning's evacuation caused by pepper spray in the departures hall. The area has been cleared and reopened, allowing passengers to go through security checks again.

Once the procedures were completed, travelers were able to reach the gate and board the flight to Rome Fiumicino, which departed at 11:50 a.m., approximately an hour later than scheduled. The circumstances surrounding the incident that led to the temporary closure of the departures area remain unclear. Investigations are ongoing.

The emergency broke out this morning, when numerous passengers waiting to board their flight to Rome were evacuated from the departures hall and subsequently moved to the security checkpoint area.
