The Tempio Public Prosecutor's Office has closed the case of the Piedmontese pensioner Silvana Gandola, who disappeared into thin air on the morning of March 28, 2021 on a beach in Aglientu (San Silverio) and died : the remains of the elderly woman were found by some hunters on January 30, 2022. The prosecutors are charging the person who had taken on the role Silvana Gandola with the crime of abandonment of an incapacitated and sick person : this is Elda Verbale, a 63-year-old from Turin.

According to the Tempio Prosecutor's Office, Silvana Gandola (an Alzheimer's patient) was not adequately followed and monitored. The indictment states that the elderly woman was allowed to "go away alone until she disappeared without a trace".

The pensioner's relatives could not join the civil proceedings because the case was erroneously addressed by the Prosecutor's Office to the single judge of Tempio, whereas the jurisdiction lies with the Court of Assizes. The proceedings will be reopened in Sassari.
