The relocation of Poetto's food trucks to the new area on Via Stromboli , near Via Vulcano and Cavalluccio Marino, is approaching, but questions remain about the operators' future, related to their nighttime travel and the costs of occupying public land. The issue was raised by City Councilor Ferdinando Secchi (FdI ), who is asking the City Council for urgent clarification on the commitments made and the payment notices, which reportedly run into thousands of euros.
The councilor denounces "the failure to honor the commitment made in the council chamber regarding the management and daily movement of vehicles operating at the new location on Via Stromboli, near Via Vulcano and the surrounding green space."
Previously, Secchi explains, a definitive "farewell to nighttime moving" had been announced, guaranteeing operators the possibility of avoiding constant moving or storing vans in private storage every single night.
"Today, however," he denounces, "insistent and worrying rumors are announcing a U-turn: the vehicles will have to be moved every night, even if only by a meter. This requirement would create enormous and unjustified difficulties, especially for those who do not have a self-propelled vehicle, but rather a structure that requires another vehicle to be towed every day. In addition to the logistical damage," he adds, " the operators are suffering a real economic mockery . The Municipality has also demanded payment of the 'Single Daily Ground Fee' amounting to thousands of euros, with completely unacceptable notice."
Specifically, for users located in the Cavalluccio Marino area, notices for the payment of thousands of euros have arrived, issued on 23 October 2026 with a peremptory deadline set for 31 October 2026 .
Secchi therefore asks the administration to carefully and urgently evaluate these aspects.
"It's crucial to prevent shortsighted decisions and unsustainable burdens, especially with immediate deadlines, from destroying one of the main attractions of the gastronomic tradition of Cagliari's Poetto seafront," he concludes. "This administration must ensure that operators can continue their activities, addressing this historic change with a focus on continuity and the true protection of local jobs."
Meanwhile, on the infrastructure front, the Municipality has approved a project aimed at making the new area more functional. The city council has given the green light to the project for the construction of two prefabricated restroom units on Via Stromboli .
The total estimated cost is €250,000. The two modules will be connected to the existing water and sewer systems nearby and equipped with toilets, electrical systems, and lighting. The project also includes ramps with a maximum gradient of 8%, non-slip flooring, and handrails to ensure accessibility for people with reduced mobility.
The goal is to ensure adequate services for both commercial operators and visitors to the area, improving hygiene and sanitation conditions and urban decorum.
