Volunteers against litter in Caniga, a small town on the outskirts of Sassari. Thirty people recently cleaned up a large area of Via Palmas, finding a massive amount of trash. The initiative, promoted by resident Monica Sogos and also supported by the San Domenico Caniga association, "extracted" everything from beer cans to toilet seats and various other bulky items. "We used bags and gloves provided to us by the municipality," reports Gabriele Dore, one of the organizers. He doesn't hide the difficulty of working in areas where there is constant incivility from those who use them as landfills.
"Unfortunately, it's a constant occurrence, from the municipal green to Monti di Jesgia." So it's the residents who have to work overtime and don't intend to stop at the last environmental operation. "We'll also go to Sant'Anatolia, on the side street of the municipal green, and generally wherever necessary." Meanwhile, the vast "harvest" has been delivered near the recycling center, which has been inactive for over a year despite reports, and which residents hope will soon be restored.
