Pallets, inmate sets fire to cell: "My client is incompatible with prison"

In solitary confinement after setting fire to the cell in Bancali . A woman from Lombardy, aged around 30, arrived in the Sassari prison on Monday evening from the one in Como in conjunction with a trial involving her, in court in Tempio Pausania, for drug dealing, events which allegedly occurred in Porto Rotondo last year .

But the young woman did not arrive at the hearing due to her actions. «My client is completely incompatible with the prison regime», declares her lawyer Sabina Useli who assists her together with her colleague Piero Porciani. «He has mental problems and is very ill. He cannot be in a penitentiary institution."

Perhaps the sudden transfer provoked a reaction from the woman who effectively made the cell unusable and was blocked by the prison officers. «We are preparing an urgent request - continues Useli - to immediately bring her back to Como where she had found a certain stability by working as a cook's assistant».

The woman's lawyers have requested an abbreviated trial conditional on a psychiatric report which will be drawn up by Professor Nicola Polani.
