As many as 151 rescue operations at sea, with 818 rescued boaters, fishermen, maritime crews, swimmers and divers. And still 148 inspections on foreign-flagged ships and 200 on Italian boats, and the numerous activities and operations to protect the marine environment.

This and more in the budget of the Coast Guard of Cagliari, which leaves behind a very challenging 2021.

Among the rescue activities at sea, most recently the intervention in favor of 9 Egyptians embarked on 2 Palau flag fishing boats, stranded on the coast of Sant'Elia in Cagliari. And then the usual summer operation "Safe Sea" which guaranteed the safety at sea of swimmers and boaters, allowing the regular performance of recreational and commercial activities.

Despite the health emergency, the logistic chain of supplies by sea of essential goods has been kept efficient, with a guarantee of safety and regularity of maritime transport, never interrupted. In terms of control activities, 33 ships flying a foreign flag were subject to detention because they did not meet maritime safety requirements. From the 200 inspections on board Italian ships, 255 administrative procedures were processed which led to the issue of as many certificates / authorizations. And po the activity in favor of the maritime personnel, which has allowed the release of 176 professional titles.

To protect the marine environment, the completion of the recovery operations of the M / N CDRY BLUE, (stranded on 21 December 2019 in the South-West of the Island of Sant'Antioco), which was successfully completed on 6 July 2021 and which made it possible to avert an environmental disaster. Recently, attention has been paid to the release operations of the two Palau flag fishing boats that ran aground in December 2021 on the coast of S. Elia in Cagliari. Furthermore, the joint activity with ARPA Sardinia continued to monitor the health of maritime waters, as well as on behalf of the Ministry of Ecological Transition both along the coast with 340 engine hours carried out during 96 missions, and in the areas Protected marine areas of Capo Carbonara and Sinis Peninsula - Isola mal di ventre with 592 engine hours in 145 missions.

Still in the environmental field, the "Ghost nets" operation saw the 4th underwater nucleus of the Corps engaged in recovery activities of abandoned fishing nets along the seabed: a danger to the life of the marine ecosystem as well as to safety of swimmers and divers, recovering several tons of abandoned nets from the sea.

On the "fishing" front, the control activity was very intense, which registered 6 complaints to the Public Prosecutor's Office for 2021 for criminal violations, administrative sanctions for an amount of over 135,000 euros, seizures for 2, 5 tons of irregular fish product and 400 fishing gears because they are not up to standard, in addition to 25 measures for assigning points on the fishing license and to the captain of the fishing boat for serious violations.

The administrative work carried out in 2021 is also significant, including certificates, authorizations, opinions, clearances, licenses and so on, as well as 735 nautical licenses issued after 187 exam sessions.
