Over 1100 Cagliari citizens less in a year: those who stay live alone and are elderly
Merciless numbers in the statistical yearbook of the Municipality: 15,000 residents lost since 2002, only one born for every 4 deaths. Half of the households consist of one person. And even the foreigners no longer arrivePer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
The inhabitants of Cagliari are 150,679 (80,445 females and 70,234 males). The statistical yearbook just published by the Municipality says so, referring to 2022: there are 1,133 fewer residents than the previous year. And even 14,726 below the figure of 20 years ago: in 2002 they were 165,405.
The bleeding is unstoppable. And it happens because the people who live in the capital emigrate (slightly) and die (a lot). Just 635 were born in one year, 2,397 died: for every Cagliari born, four moved to San Michele (forever, in the cemetery). An inevitable trend in a city with an average age of 50.22 years: 47.99 for men and 52.17 for women. The oldest area is the European Quarter: the average here is 54.2 years.
Sexes that hardly cross each other. Or rather: when they do, they don't go to sanction the unions in the civil state offices. Among those in the age to change their status , 49.68 are celibate (males) and 43.33 single (females). Married men are 41.48%, married women 37.34%. The result is that, net of uncertified cohabitations, households made up of a single person are 49.6% of the total, 25.36% of two and just 14.80% of three. For the item "large families" we must enter the dimension of the zero point.
The neighborhood that has lost the most residents in 12 months is Stampace, with a reduction of 356 in one year (but only one compared to 2002). The one that has suffered the greatest depopulation in the historical series of the last 20 years is instead Is Mirrionis: 2,480 have left. But the popular district is the one with the most newborns: there are 172 children between 0 and 2 years old (2,069 in the whole city).
Not even foreigners contribute to stem the demographic collapse: there are 9,480 residents without an Italian passport, only 253 more than the previous year. But 271 less than in 2019. Half (49.72%) have homes between Marina, Villanova and Stampace. The average age rises: 38.52 years. Twenty years ago it was just over 33. The largest community is the Filipino (1713) , followed by the Ukrainians (1,034, and the war has nothing to do with it, given that in 2021 they were 968) and in third position are the Romanians: 782.
