Italy sets new negative records on the climate front, with the passing of the baton to the large islands: after Sicily, over the weekend a large area of southern Sardinia will reach 40 degrees and the municipality of Ottana, in the Nuoro area, will be the hottest in Europe, reaching 41.
This is indicated by the Anbi Observatory on Water Resources, which also reports how these anomalous African temperatures in June are now affecting the entire Peninsula up to the Alpine arc where, around 1000 meters, the maximum temperatures are above 25° (on the Grandes Murailles, at 2566 meters in the Aosta Valley, it has been 17 days that the temperatures have not fallen below zero and for a week the maximum temperatures have exceeded 11°).
The thermal anomalies of the Mediterranean Sea remain, which greatly influence the meteorology of the countries in the area and even more so of Italy, a natural "bridge" to Africa: over the weekend, between Libya and Sicily as well as in the Tyrrhenian Sea between Sicily and Calabria and off the pearly coasts of Sardinia, the water will warm up to 27°.
"The climate crisis in the Mediterranean basin", urges Francesco Vincenzi, president of the national association of Consortia for the Management and Protection of Land and Irrigation Waters (Anbi), "must be a priority on the agenda of all of Europe, because it heralds profound social, as well as economic and environmental, transformations".
