«Other than a mask, this one is eating his chair». The protagonist of the video, filmed inside the Oncological Radiology department in Cagliari , is a large mouse: it is inside an office and it doesn't even seem so frightened by the presence of the two employees who resume, between worried and disgusted and the amused.

The problem is that this is not an isolated case for the hospital in via Jenner, which takes care of cancer patients. The first report of the presence of mice had arrived in the first days of December: even then a video documented one peeking out of the extractor hood of the canteen kitchen. The spaces had been closed, to carry out the rat extermination intervention. The alarm seemed to have passed, but it wasn't.

"We felt compelled to report the matter, given the particular delicacy of the pathologies treated in that hospital", explains the provincial secretary of Fials, Paolo Cugliara, "we were assured that with rat extermination everything had been resolved. Instead we are here to report the umpteenth presence of a gigantic rat: a "merdona", if you pass me the term in Sardinian. At this point we invite the hospital management to take serious measures, whatever they may be. But they must be decisive: the situation is serious, also considering the precedents ».

The trade unionist refers to the closure of bars and chapels, also of the Businco, decided last week: access was allowed again after two days. While the canteen is still inaccessible: the spaces have been banned again after the reactivation. The reason is always the same: there are mice in the hospital.

The canteen service, the Brotzu company, which also controls the Oncology department, will be reopened starting tomorrow. And the chair-eating mouse, captured on Monday, was caught and killed.
