They fought the battle against Covid on the front lines, providing assistance in the most difficult moments of the pandemic. They worked in the facilities of the ASL 8, such as the Santissima Trinità and other hospitals, with grueling shifts and unconditional commitment. Yet, today, they are excluded from stabilization.

Alongside the 26 social-health workers represented by the USB union and who have been protesting outside the Regional Council since yesterday, there are another 24 Oss who feel forgotten.

Among them is Simona Imeroni, 63, unemployed since August and with her pension still four years away: "We gave everything during the emergency, and now we find ourselves without a future," she says bitterly.

The crux of the problem? A bureaucratic quibble. Unlike other ASL in Sardinia, which have published multiple stabilization notices to recognize the work of Covid operators, ASL 8 has provided for a single selection, excluding those who have not accrued exactly 18 months of service at the date of the notice . "We have been left out even for just a few days or weeks," explains Imeroni.

Yet, their contribution was no less: "We had up to 10 contract extensions, even reaching 36 months of service". The national government gave the possibility of stabilizing the Oss until December 31, 2025, recognizing the 18 months of work with a Covid contract, but the ASL 8 did not give them this opportunity.

Now they are asking for justice: "We have the same rights as our stabilized colleagues. We do not want to be forgotten . We served the health system in the darkest moment, now we only ask not to be left behind".
