Nearly €1,600 . That's how much was spent with a credit card stolen from an 87-year-old man while he was hospitalized at the San Martino Hospital in Oristano. A 40-year-old woman was reported by the Carabinieri of the Ghilarza station for misuse of a payment card. The investigation, according to a press release from the Carabinieri, began after the man filed a complaint after realizing he no longer had the card while hospitalized.

An analysis of the bank transactions revealed that the card was used for numerous purchases at various stores in Oristano and for several withdrawals, for a total amount of €1,590.

During the investigation , which also included a house search, the Carabinieri found in the woman's home the clothing worn during an ATM withdrawal (captured by video surveillance cameras), as well as two receipts apparently proving payments made with the elderly woman's card. The 40-year-old was also reported to the Oristano Prefecture for being found in possession of approximately 43 grams of marijuana, hidden inside a plastic jar.
