The number of West Nile virus cases continues to rise in the province of Oristano. According to the local health authority, an 86-year-old woman living in Campidano tested positive today. Since Monday, a new case has been recorded every day .

The woman in her 80s is now hospitalized at San Martino Hospital . After the assessment, the Department of Hygiene and Health Prevention, headed by Dr. Maria Valentina Marras, immediately implemented all the necessary measures: an epidemiological investigation and the cordoning off of the woman's home to allow for more thorough disinfection within a 200-meter radius of her home.

In recent weeks, four more people over 70, seven over 60, one over 40, two over 80, and one over 90 have tested positive for the virus . Of these 15 infected, 11 are still hospitalized in various hospitals, while four have been discharged and returned home .
