Another blitz by vandals at the Oristano Intermodal Center. This morning the welcome to the numerous commuters was an unsightly spectacle after a new rampage of kids who went wild last weekend despite the Center being closed by security guards at midnight.
Groups of young people had fun in their own way by destroying the toilets, both the women's and men's ones: they tore the handles off the doors, damaged the toilets and threw paper everywhere. The rampages continued in the waiting room where all the benches were moved and rubbish was scattered everywhere. And at dawn, the first Monday commuters discovered what had happened. The situation was immediately reported and action was taken to clean up and tidy up those rooms that had been devastated by some rowdies.
Last November, after repeated “incursions” into the underpass, the main building and the elevator, the administration decided to close access to the Intermodal Center during the night. But that wasn’t enough. “The security guard closes the building at midnight,” explains Councilor Ivano Cuccu, “it reopens at 3 because the first bus leaves, then it closes again until 5. Unfortunately, someone still manages to sneak in.” In recent months, the Councilor had already asked the Region for contributions to deal with this situation, but everything is still at a standstill, now the focus is on strengthening video surveillance.
